Now that most people feel it's acceptable to decorate how about some fun ideas to make your tree really sparkle? I am a huge fan of the pre-lit tree - I am not messing with strings of lights that is for sure. I also hate the practice of draping garland, so thankfully my mom came up with a genius technique many years ago. Instead of draping we take tinsel and cut into chunks. This can be messy so make sure to keep the bits away from pets or little ones who might put stray chunks of tinsel in their mouths. Once cut, collect all of your pieces and place on the tree near the pre-strung lights. The lights will dance off the bits of tinsel making your tree shimmer when lit and sparkle during the day as well!
Now, that is not to say that I replace lights with tinsel, that is definitely not the case! You want sparkle this holiday add lights!! This year we added lights around a couple of doorways, lights on our porch and we have four trees that light up! Still not enough? It wasn't for me, so I have a ton of battery-operated candles all over the place that just give the whole apartment that holiday glow! What have you done to add a little sparkle to your holiday?
