Makeup Monday- Night Time Skin Care
I don't know about you guys but I spend a lot of money on makeup each year, so don't we want to make sure we put that make up on the best canvas possible? My mom bugged me for years and years to wash my face every night, to get all the makeup off and go to bed with a clean moisturized face. Of course mom was right! (isn't it annoying when they are right like that) Going to bed with makeup on can actually do a lot of damage, it clogs your pores, can cause breakouts or make existing breakouts worse, it can make you look older and your skin look dull and let's not get into all the problems it can cause for your eyes and lashes! Bottom line, you gotta take that makeup off at night! So here is my night time routine for removing makeup and cleaning my face!
I start with the Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm. Now all of the Take the Day Off products are amazing but this is my favorite, it just does the job I need it to. I take a little bit rub it all over my face particularly that tough mascara and that all day lip color! Then I rinse with warm water and move onto the next step.
I have been using the Clinique Facial Soap for years and years (even before I was washing my face at night) and it always does the trick. They have three types dependent on your skin type, I use the combination to combination oily types 3/4. The great thing about this soap is a bar will last you a long time and is gentle regardless of which type you use.
Next up - Clinique Clarifying Lotion! Why is this important? It exfoliates your skin, leaving it ready for moisturizer, you will use this again in the morning and it will help prep your face for makeup application, there will be more on that in a future post!
Last but certainly not least moisturizer. I use another great Clinique product the Turnaround Overnight Cream. I use other Turnaround products and they are all a dream! This moisturizer leaves my skin feeling great and looking lively and fresh every morning.
I usually use my Clinique Sonic Cleansing Brush in the morning because it lives in the shower but once in a while when my face really needs a good scrub I pull it out and use at night too. Now I was resistant to this product but once again my mom insisted and again she was right. It makes my skin feel WONDERFUL! I've been using it lately with the Tarte Knockout cleanser, this cleanser makes my face so happy, it exfoliates, deep cleans pores, I come out of the shower feeling refreshed and I always feel my skin is noticeably brighter looking.
Now there are of course a lot of other products I use or I've tried and I will do my best to get to all of them but I wanted to start with my absolute staples, my never fail night time products that have helped my skin tremendously. Let me know if you have any additional questions and if you have a never fail product I want to hear that too! And one final reminder, when your mom tells you to wash your face - listen!
