My mom is super artistic and crafty, I wished any of that talent rubbed off on me! Finally we found scrapbooking! This fun craft was something we could do together, something we could both get into and something we were both good at because we could create based on our styles and talent! Mom and I have stayed up until 2AM scrapbooking, we've been a part of online groups, we've both participated in many Layout a Day challenges and from time to time we have created our own virtual scrapbooking club and now that we live across the country from each other we are trying it again!
My mom picked the first prompt where she challenged us to use Julie Nutting girl stamps. Above is my mom's layout. I love the brightness of this layout, the fun and the cool and casual girl stamp she chose.
I went in a different direction picking a girl stamp carrying her suitcase and ready to explore France with me. You can tell we both love our clusters, and did I even do a layout if I didn't add splatters?
Next up! I challenged us to add details we cut using our Cricut. This was a really hard one but of course we both went with Vegas photos and super Vegasy details. I leaned in on the black and red palette with splashes of gold. I love my mom's color palette and I know if gave her a rough time but the image she cut is so perfect!
Next up my mom sent me this sketch! I hadn't scrapbooked using a sketch in a long time so it was super fun to have a jumping off point again.
I love how often me and my mom end up with similar pages. We flipped the sketch a little bit and my mom continued with her Vegas themed pages. I love how happy and celebratory mom's page is. I knew I wanted to go with a Spring theme for my layout because I had just received my new Echo park kit and was so in love with the papers I couldn't resist using them. I used pop dots to add dimension to some of my embellishments, went crazy with enamel dots and added my beloved ink splatter!
